The natural world remains my greatest inspiration, with British wildlife providing endless subjects alongside the ever-changing English countryside. I also enjoy painting domestic animals, landscapes and floral arrangements. I enjoy capturing the detail of fur, feathers and petals while balancing them with strong composition.
Working primarily in oils, I enjoy the richness of colour and the balance between control and spontaneity that the medium allows.
Based in Leicestershire, much of my inspiration comes from spending time exploring the English countryside. Walks through woodland, nature reserves and open countryside provide a constant source of ideas, reference photographs and quiet moments of observation that often become the starting point for new paintings.
Every painting is approached with patience and care, with the aim of capturing not only the appearance of a subject, but also the character and atmosphere that first inspired it.
